R U Ready 4 Some BASE-ball?

Well the time is upon us once again. After the dreadfully long 162 game regular season, which most teams manage to eliminate themselves from the playoff race approximately by all-star break, its postseason. Like any other year I am vaguely aware of this "great American past-time" happening throughout the summer months, but am busier with more pressing matters, like peeing, scratching myself, and sleeping. My point being...baseball is BORING until the games actually matter. Unless you're lucky enough to attend many games in person (where the atmosphere and alcohol and food more than make up for the boredom of the actual sporting event) then there's really no point in paying attention to baseball until about Labour Day. Then its just to see which of the 12-15 good teams will actually make it in. Most of the time if you're over .500 then you have great odds of appearing in the postseason.
Well the only time I actually pay attention is if I accidentally pass baseball on TV and there's nothing on, or the Cardinals are in the playoffs; (which under Tony LaRussa seems to be more and more frequently than Joe Torre ever managed the Cards to - note to Joe, when you've got George buying your team its pretty easy to win. so don't count your ticket to Cooperstown punched just yet by virtue of being there often enough. Bobby Cox, there is a man who deserves it. Ozzie Guillen, other guys who I actually remember PLAYING baseball are the managers who are fun to watch. Joe Torre you stink. You couldn't win with the Yanks? what a joke) As you may note I have a mad hate on for Joe Torre as for when he managed the Cards into an embarassment of the National League for one of the 5 greatest teams in the history of MLB.

Anyhow, here we are October 2006 and St. Louis is back where they belong. To those of you who enjoy BB then I salute you for the persistence, but I have to say the strike killed it for me, and I can only stomach 2-3 weeks now. Mind you should the Cardinals finally cash in this year, I might just have to pay a little more attention....
