Oh right...I went to a Sens/Habs game last month!!!

So ya, I totally forgot to write about my first NHL game of the season, Habs/Sens @ Scotiabank Place. Got to see Carey Price in his...2nd game? I saw the future, and it is good for us. Unfortunately we lost the game, 5-3 if I recall, but I was happy to see that there were almost as many Habs fans as Sens fans, and we were louder than the hometown crowd in my section!
Attached are some pics for your persual and viewing pleasure, since everyone loves a picture book.
The Enemy warming up

Ryder, Plekanec, Huet and others...stretching!

We're ready for the faceoff...Ottawa 2 min for Delay of Game.

The Face (or rather the backside) of the Future, Carey Price

Our seats may have been very high, but I wasn't. I SWEAR! Just not a super picture. By the way, that touque is vintage, either from '87 or the Cup '86 Season!
And now for Steve, a few of my fellow spectators...do enjoy...

Wait, do I recognize that man? ...no it couldn't be...could it?

IT IS! IT IS! David Crosby! Wow. I should have asked for his autograph.

Not so famous, but definitely a sexy beast!

Rahul C. Mehta, D.D.S.

Today was a very interesting experience...I went to the dentist.
But this was no ordinary dentist mind you, this was Dr. Rahul C. Mehta, one beloved from years at Queen's and beyond, who's journey south of the border resulted in the marriage to his lovely bride, and returned him unscathed to our beautiful northland.
Its funny enough having a friend who's a dentist, but its even more interesting to have that same friend be YOUR new dentist!
Once I got over the fact that this dentist would actually talk to me and let me know what was going on and was more interested in going for lunch after filling a cavity than talking about flossing and flouride rinses (although those were lunch topics of conversation).
So for those of you who know and love Rahul, rest assured he's a fine dental machine. I highly reccomend him, although none of the rest of you live here in Ottawa.
Lucky me.

American Gangter (no spoilers I promise)

OK, so I used to give movie reviews on this blog, then again I also used to write regularly on here...
I went and saw the movie I'd been looking forward to for a long long time, Russell Crowe and Denzel...(and already it will be better than Virtuosity which wasn't actually that horrible a movie). In addition to the 2 main stars, Ridley Scott is the director, and well that for me is a sure sign it will be long, but not dragging, and it will tell a very good story.
This movie did not dissapoint. I really enjoy Denzel in the bad guy mode, but this is NOT Denzel circa Training Day, the character of Frank Lucas is a gangster, no doubt about it, thats what the first scene in the movie means to let you know. But Frank Lucas is also something of an anomaly...a Black man who moves up the ranks and ends up above the mafia in terms of power and control. Richie, Crowe's character, is very principled police officer, as one of the critical scenes involving a trunk full of money lets us know. I enjoyed how the storylines of Richie and Frank were kept separate for as long as possible even though you know they're heading for a confrontation. When that scene finally happens and Frank finally comes into contact with Richie, the moviemaking is done so well, that not a single word needs to be said. That is also a kudos to the 2 actors indeed.
If I could offer comparison, the one obvious one that jumps out is The Departed of last year by Marty Scorcese, but this is a wholly different kind of film, but about very similar characters. In both movies, there is a good job of showing that there's no black and white in the world of criminals and cops.
I was glad to see Scorcese win the Oscar, but I hope it doesn't count against American Gangster when it comes to award season.
The other big comparison I feel would be appropriate is Michael Mann's Heat, when Robert DeNiro & Al Pacino star on opposite sides of the law and most of the movie has them not interacting, but when they do its a very powerful scene and is what separated a good movie from a great movie.
There is also a lot of similarity between the values of Frank and Richie, and you could see them being friends under some circumstances.
It being based on a true story just makes it all the more interesting...
I have been careful not to give you any spoilers so that you can go and enjoy it, as I did with mostly an info blackout.
So please go see it and let me know what you think...hope the review helps

Oops...another month long lapse...

Firstly, no its not my baby. My girlfriend's sister had one, 6lbs 11oz born Nov 13th. Don't expect me to be next!

Before that however, Jeremy got married Oct 20th in London, great times all around, to those who missed it. Queen's/Deep River represented. Then the happy couple went to Hawaii.

Well now here we are, and I have a question that I will hope to have some feedback on:
With the great HHOF class that just entered (Steve I bet you'd have liked to meet that class)
and the retirement of Mr. Eric Lindros...warrants the question many have asked...
Does Eric Lindros deserve to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame, and Will he be?
Discuss.
Until then, Go Habs.
